From Mama to MiMi: Why Milestones Matter More Than Ever
This week, I became a MiMi for the second time—and my heart is overflowing.
There’s something beautifully emotional about watching your daughter become a mother (again). It’s an experience that wraps you in love, pride, nostalgia, and awe—all at once. This sweet baby boy has already captured our hearts, and seeing my daughter cradle him, care for him, and instantly step into being everything he needs is one of the most unforgettable moments of my life.
As a photographer, I’ve always known that milestones matter. I’ve spent years documenting first cries, tiny toes, cake-smashing giggles, and tender snuggles. But living through this personal chapter again—this time as a grandmother—has deepened that belief even more.
Life moves fast. Moments like these remind us to pause.
It feels like just yesterday she came into my life as an 11-year-old girl—bright, beautiful, and full of life. I didn’t rock her to sleep or witness her first steps, but I did hold her tight through middle school struggles, high school relationships, and was blessed enough to get the incredible honor of watching her grow into a strong, loving woman. And now, I’m watching her be a mother herself.
It’s a powerful reminder that every chapter of our story—no matter when it begins—is worth cherishing and preserving.
This is why I do what I do.
Because these moments? They don’t wait.
They’re fleeting. They’re fragile. They pass in the blink of an eye. And while we can’t stop time, we can capture it. We can hold onto the tiny details, the raw emotions, and the love that fills the room during life’s most precious milestones.
