A charming farm setting, complete with adorable chickens, rustic hay bales, and, of course, a beautiful smash cake. This session was all about celebrating little man’s first birthday, and boy, does he love chickens! From the moment Mama reached out, she knew she wanted something unique and special for her son’s first big milestone. She told me how much he adored chickens, so we decided to go all out with a farm theme. It’s such a joy to collaborate with parents who have a clear vision but also trust me to bring it to life. The result? A delightful mix of rustic charm, personal touches, and a whole lot of fun. Here’s a peek into how we made this session egg-stra special!

Setting the Scene

Creating the perfect backdrop for this cake smash session started with lots of planning and a little bit of creative brainstorming. I always begin by sketching out ideas that align with the family’s vision, and for this farm theme, I imagined a cozy barnyard scene. Think weathered wood, straw bales, vintage egg crates, and even a few playful stuffed chickens for that added touch of whimsy.

One of my favorite pieces in the setup was a vintage “Fresh Eggs” sign that added the perfect rustic feel. It’s the little details like these that make each scene unique and personal. We scattered fresh eggs around the setting, nestled amongst the hay, which added a fun and authentic vibe to the whole setup. And, of course, we couldn’t forget the star of the show: the simple yet elegant smash cake, perfectly placed on a wooden cake stand right in the center, just waiting for the little one to dive in.
