Cake Smash Session | Sacramento Photographer

This little cookie had so much fun during his cake smash session. I got to capture his newborn photos just about a year ago, and now here we are celebrating his first birthday which is right around the corner! I always tell parents the first few years go by so fast, but when they come in for their cake smash session I often have to stop and ask if it’s really been a year! Man, time flies!!!

As mama carried this little guy into the studio he tried to pretend to be shy at first. This is totally normal!!!! I mean, after all, I’m not someone they see every day, so to them, I’m a complete stranger, in a completely new place. There’s a lot going through their heads. I sat down on the floor with him, mama pulled out a few of his favorite toys, and we started playing. In less than 5 minutes this cutie decided on his own he was ready for photos and crawled over to the set. So I grabbed my camera and the rest is well… You’ll have to scroll down to see how that turned out!

Some children will need more time to adjust and acclimate. I want my clients to know that we will give them that time. We want this to be a fun and exciting experience for everyone involved. Rushing the process isn’t going to get us what we want. My sessions are not based on “time”. We will take whatever time I feel we need to get the shots we need. I will not rush a child and pressure them before they are ready. By allowing them to adjust, we create an environment where they get to play and have fun. After all, these are their birthday photos and we want them to have fun right?!?!
