Memorial Day | Yuba City Photographer
Yuba/Sutter Areas | Sacramento | Roseville | Chico
Memorial Day… Everyone enjoys the three day weekend, but many forget real meaning of why this holiday exists. Maybe they don’t forget, but they often over look it. We often use this holiday as an excuse to “kick off summer”. We have a BBQ, a few beers, and spend it with family and friends.. What we all really need to be doing is showing our appreciation and gratitude for those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. Without these hero’s, none of us would live the lives we do today. I ask that each and every one of you take a moment of silence to pay your respects to those we’ve lost. Pray for those who’ve lost their partners, loved ones, and friends.
President Trump stated, “Memorial Day is our nation’s solemn reminder that freedom is never free. It is a moment of collective reflection on the noble sacrifices of those who gave the last measure of devotion in service of our ideals and in the defense of our nation,” he writes. “On this ceremonious day, we remember the fallen, we pray for a lasting peace among nations, and we honor these guardians of our inalienable rights.”
For those of you fortunate enough to live in the Yuba/Sutter Area, I highly recommend you visit The Museum of Forgotten Soldiers. This is such a little treasure to have here in our area. This museum was started by one of my friends fathers, who’s recently passed away. Luckily others in the community are dedicated to keeping it up and running.
“It doesn’t take a hero to order men into battle. It takes a hero to be one of those men who goes into battle.” – Norman Schwarzkopf
