Track and Field was never a sport that sparked my interest growing up. I hated running, and certainly didn’t want to do it for fun. My daughters started participating in Track and Field and I learned there was so much more to it than just running. See, even your kids can teach you a thing or two along the way! I love watching them compete and put their whole heart out there on the line.
In Jr. High they don’t get to participate in very many track meets. Unfortunately this is the first one I’ve been able to attend this year and of course I took my camera to capture some of these final moments of our 8th grader!
Raising Athletes is one of the most rewarding aspects of parenting. Being an athlete myself makes me appreciate everything that goes into sports by everyone involved (the athlete, parents, coaches, etc). It’s truly a team effort! I’ve been the athlete, the coach, and the parent. They are all hard work in their individual ways. The life lessons that each has taught me are unforgettable and irreplaceable. I hope I can pass those lessons on to my children over the years, but there are just things you can’t begin to understand or explain unless you’re an athlete.
They always say it takes a village to raise your children. This couldn’t be more true. Those you surround yourself with, and those who you children grow up with all have an impact on the person they become as an adult.
Watching my children grow and having the opportunity to be there for their events is what makes my heart happy. I love being there for them and it’s what makes me happy. For those of you who know me, you know, MY KIDS ARE MY WORLD! If I ever have to miss an event or game I feel like a piece of me is missing the whole time I’m away. I’m constantly on the phone trying to get updates, annoying anyone else who’s there, because I need the play by play details.
