What is boutique photography? That’s something that I have been asked by people.
Let me give you this analogy to think about. Picture a fast food drive-thru restaurant and then think of a nice sit-down restaurant with a table and a gorgeous view. From their branding, offerings, delivery (and more) that sit-down restaurant is going to do EVERYTHING differently than that drive-thru. You won’t be getting your meal handed to you through a window in a paper bag and then sent on your way. Instead, you’ll be advised on the best cut of meat, and a fantastic wine that pairs amazingly with it while your courses are brought to you one at a time and prepared especially for you.
Now, thinking about that analogy, let’s put that into perspective in the photography world. There are photographers who take your portraits and then hand you the digital files, sending you on your way. Sort of like a drive-thru right?!?! You show up at the session, take your photos, and a few weeks later have your digital files. Then you, as the consumer, are left trying to figure out what the best size is for where you want to put it, along with how to properly frame the image, then there’s making sure the color is correct and trying to find out where to even print them. Often times many of these clients never even print their images!
Then there are others who take you through every step of the process, the sit-down fine dining restaurant with that gorgeous view. These are your boutique photography services. These photographers are going to help you select your outfits, give you suggestions for hair and makeup artists, discuss your vision with you and select the perfect location, make you feel beautiful and comfortable in front of the camera, as well as help you select the perfect wall art pieces for your home, ensure that it’s printed correctly and beautifully, and maybe even install it for you!
So, as you can see, while each offering provides you with images (food for the restaurants), the experience is very different.
When you sit at a restaurant and spend hours there enjoying your fabulous meal you know that when the bill comes it’s going to be higher than one you’d receive if you went to a drive-thru restaurant. You also know that if really you wanted to, you could have gone to the store and purchased all the ingredients from your meal and cooked it yourself. Yet people still go out to eat. There are countless numbers of restaurants globally, and they are continuing to grow. People still want to be taken care of. Even if you had gotten all the ingredients yourself you may not have even known how to prepare the meal the same, or maybe you just didn’t want to do it and you wanted someone to do it for you while you sat and enjoyed a glass of wine and conversation with your loved ones.
So you can expect something similar with photography, right? But the best part about investing in that boutique photography session is that you aren’t just throwing that money away and it’s gone forever. You’re getting beautiful archival prints that are going to become family heirlooms to be passed down from generation to generation. With a boutique photography experience, you aren’t going to be rushed through a system like a herd of cows. You’re going to be taken care of, attended to, and likely feel like you are the photographer’s most important client. Because after all, you are!
Are you ready for that boutique experience? Sit back, relax, kick those feet up, and let me do all the work for you!
