Being a parent myself, I’ve gotten to see the bond between siblings form from the outside perspective. I have three children and they each have unique and special bonds with one another. Their relationships and dynamics have changed over the years, and seeing that happen is truly a unique gift. I love when I take a stroll down memory lane through my iPhone photos as I go through photos of them. I can practically remember every scenario, conversation, and giggle behind all those photos.

As a Yuba City Children’s Photographer, the bond between siblings is also something that I also understand firsthand! I have an older brother and we are very close. For a large portion of my life, my brother and I either lived together or next door to each other. We obviously grew up living together, but when I moved home from college we became roommates. We lived together until I got married and started my own family, and before we knew it, we became neighbors instead of roomies! We lived next door to each other for several years, before my brother decided to sell his home, expand his family, and move to the town next door. I remember crying because at that point we had lived either with each other, or next door to each other for all but a few years of my life. I managed to get past the fact that we were no longer going to be neighbors and our children would no longer play whiffle ball in the street together every day, but even though we now lived 10 minutes apart, we were still best friends. We have a bond that will last a lifetime, one that no one else can have, or replace.

Over the years I’ve developed ways to learn about the relationships and bonds between siblings before our session. I have conversations with parents, and during our consultation and planning appointment we discuss these things through my conversation with parents, I’m able to learn about each of their children as well as their bonds with each other.
