In today’s world, we have an abundance of digital photos on our computers and devices. We take a picture with our phone, upload it to Facebook or Instagram, and then move on. Most people don’t think about why your photos need to be printed. I mean, what is the point right?
Why not just keep them on your computer? The answer is that there are many benefits to having printed copies of your favorite memories. This blog post will explore three reasons why you should be printing your photos.
Technology Isn’t Done
You’ll Have Beautiful Pieces Of Wall Art To Feature In Your Home
You’re Creating Family Heirlooms
Over the years technology has come a LONG way! Unfortunately, with that, I’ve seen many people that have simply just stopped printing their photos. Why should you print your photos when you have them on your phone, computer, iPad, etc?
Well first of all…. Technology is ever-changing. What’s used today to store media will one day be obsolete. Let’s take a quick trip down memory lane. Not too long ago you may have saved your images to a CD/DVD thinking that was the best way to store them. At the time yeah, it likely was a great plan. Now, take a look at your computer, is there even a CD/DVD drive on your computer? Chances are you just answered No.
Technology progressed and moved to USBs, then the cloud. What’s next? Truth is, none of us know. While we love the progression of all this technology, it could pose an issue years down the road when you try to go back and get that favorite photo of your newborn child.
This is one of the crucial reasons why printing your images is so important. It’s a physical item that you’ll have FOREVER. All of my prints are printed on high-quality photographic paper that is archival and meant to last 100 years or more. Truth is, our images will outlive us, and we should be preparing to pass them down for generations to come.
I know I’ll still get people saying, “But Megan, I really want to have my photos on my phone, and to share with family/friends on social media.” I totally get it! Trust me, I’m not stuck in time. I completely get the world we live in today, and how we all want to proudly display our family for others to see. That’s why with each portrait that’s purchased I also offer a complimentary digital file! My clients get the best of both worlds! Check out the products I offer!
Another great benefit to printing your photos is that you’ll have beautiful pieces of wall art to feature in your home. Photos make the perfect addition to any room, and they can really personalize your space. When you print your photos, you have the option of framing them or using a photo album. I
I personally love having my images printed onto bonded canvas and putting them in a beautiful frame. It’s an easy way to display your memories in style, and you never have to worry about changing the decor of a room (because it matches everything!).
The final reason why you should be printing your photos is that it’s something you can pass down to future generations. It’s a physical item that will always remind loved ones of those special moments in time. By storing our images digitally, there are things we’re losing out on. You can’t hold your phone up to your great-great-grandparents who you never met and take a selfie. There’s just something memorable about having them in tangible form. The memories we capture need to be remembered by more than just the devices that store them.
As I said before, I completely understand the importance of having our images stored digitally. That’s why with each portrait purchased, I also offer a complimentary digital file. I’m giving my clients the best of both worlds! So next time you go have your family photos taken, I want you to think about why your photos need to be printed, and remember the importance of these memorable keepsakes.
